Future Scope Of IOT

IOT will be at the centre of damaging cyber-attacks

• Sadly, IOT will face immense security challenges that can hamper their working abilities.
• While IOT wants to help humans lead a better live, security lapses which happen commonly, must be reduced.
• Attacks on devices and equipment used by users, must not be compromised to allow them to access sensitive data.

Blockchain-based IOT adoption rises to 5%

• Block-chain is the leading technology which will be used in the working of IOT.
• They can be used to share, store, and connect IOT enabled devices.
• Unfortunately, it is not yet prepared for large deployments that need smooth working conditions.
• It is commonly seen today that businesses are ramping up their effort to bring out new voice-based services for their customers.
• Few of them include Google Assistant, Siri, Alexa, and Cortana. These depend on IOT and AI.
• At the moment their success is immense, which means, IOT enabled products have been accepted by us.

Challenges to deal

• Though the Internet of Things has given humans several reasons to rejoice about, not everything about it is rosy.
• Of course, users can connect with thousands of others on a network; devices can be used for our protection at home, office, and even educational institutions.

However, certain flaws and drawbacks have to be addressed at the earliest. We will discuss each one of them, briefly.

Stability

• The stability of the IOT has worried a lot of vendors and customers alike. Devices and products like fridges, dolls, and even baby monitors getting hacked, are happening on a regular basis.
• The infrastructure which is critical of any city can be a target of hackers.
• An excellent example of that would be the power grid in Ukraine getting hacked.

Privacy

• Privacy of individuals and organisations should not be affected.
• With so many of them highly dependent on the Internet, safety will be a significant concern for many. It lies with the manufacturers and vendors to avoid hackers from stealing sensitive information.
• When logging in Facebook and other services, user’s data should not go into the hands of the wrong people.

Compatibility & longevity

• As of now, we have Wi-Fi, Z-Wave, and ZigBee, which can help in connections of several devices on a network.
• The sad part about this is that compatibility issues will arise. The hardware and software required for connection purposes won’t do the job.
• Unfortunately, the technology used today, will not do in a few years’ time.

Connectivity issues

• The connectivity issues will be a significant concern with IOT.
• The communication modules and platforms which will be based on the concept have to be modified such that, clients do not experience serious problems.
• As of now, it on a network with the help of the client-server, humans can communicate with each through different methods.
• The main problem here is that it is ideal for thousands of devices. However, when that number increases to a million or more, then connecting so many devices at one go, can be an issue.
• A similar issue faced apart from the connectivity would be the scalability.
• What happens here is that products that are insecure are designed and created.
• Solutions which are created keeping the security of the product in mind bring out generic products. They do not come with the required storage capability, computation power, and operating system.

Standards

Few of the standards of the Internet of Things include IoT MAC Standards, IoT Data Link Standards, IoT Transport Layer Standards, IoT Routing Standards, IoT Network Standards, and IoT Management Standards.
