The definition of worth is very subjective. The fact is, Oracle does have the most complete feature set available from any Technical software available out there. But, does all of those features really needed? Mostly everyone would say they need all of those features. It is however, when for each feature comes with financial cost that should be paid then the story would be different.
Originally Answered: In how much time can we learn Oracle from scratch? Hi, it depends what you are targeting to learn. If it's SQL and PL/Sql, then it will take 3 hours of study for 2–3 months and you will be good to go.
If you already do programming, it’s a little harder, as you will need to learn both the basics and “thinking in SQL”. I found as a hard core C++ programmer, some parts of SQL for me, even after 17 years, are “read only”. I’m really good at analyzing SQL, not as much necessarily as writing it, but that’s because to program Oracle EBusiness Suite you need to know not just the tables, but the setups.
Oracle Apps Technical will definitely be in action as long as the databases are there. But we need to keep improving our self and updated with the latest technologies.
Oracle Apps Technical is building automation into our devices to drive efficiency with the goal that associations can scale up to the developments in information and the development of information clients and utilize cases.

Career opportunities for an Oracle
In any given mid-level to Tiel1 level IT Company which offers Oracle EBS solutions we would find hundreds of Oracle EBS technical consultants with average experience around 5 years.
One question which constantly chases most of them in unconscious mind is what could be their future once the whole market shifts from On-premise to Cloud model and using applications like Fusion HCM, Fusion Finance etc. Techies with middleware technology experience might think they are safe. Most of the tools and programming language used in EBS are obsolete in Fusion cloud applications. Example no more pl/sql, Oracle forms, Oracle reports, work flow, OAF etc.
Same question haunted me for few years until I got opportunity to work on a Fusion cloud applications project. Fortunately, I found an answer to this question during my tenue in this organization.
The biggest advantage an Oracle EBS techie have over other ERP techies such as People soft techie would be still 90% the data structures in fusion are similar to Oracle EBS.
You would find lot of similarities in data flow or business process between Oracle EBS and Fusion applications.
Now comes the challenging part, fusion applications comes with below new set of tools. As a techie you are expected to work on these tools during implementation as well as application support.
- HCM data loaders ( HDL)
- File based loader ( FBL)
- Spread sheet loader
- Payroll batch loaders
- HCM extracts
- BI publisher
- Application Desktop Framework
- Business Process Management ( BPM )
- Fusion Role Based Security
- Oracle Identify Management ( OIM )
OIM is used to perform SYSADMIN activities we perform in Oracle EBS, which you can understand with minimum efforts.
SQL is still used in many places in Fusion cloud applications like building BI publisher reports, building custom security profiles etc.
If you have great expertise in writing an SQL for any kind of requirement, your chances to service in Fusion cloud application is very high.
Based on my experience I can say that People with good techno-functional experience in Oracle EBS applications like HRMS, will be productive in no less time in fusion applications like HCM. Of course this statement is valid when we give our 100% commitment.
My humble request to every Oracle EBS techie, please stop worrying about your future in cloud world.
With my past 3 years of work experience in a Fusion cloud HCM environment, I can proudly say that Oracle EBS techie will win the survival game against other ERP techies.
