SAP EWM

Extended Warehouse Management (EWM):

EWM is the extended version of WM with enhanced WM features. EWM is mainly used for large distribution centers with high volumes and complex processes

Future Of EWM

SAP EWM Licensing

• With this new direction, SAP offers EWM with two different licensing structures for embedded EWM on S/4HANA, Basic or Advanced.
• EWM Basic is geared towards businesses who are running S/4HANA ERP and want to leverage the warehouse management functionality included with their current licensing. EWM Basic has additional and enhanced functionality over the old WM module, including more granular bin levels and a robust user-friendly RF framework.
• On top of that, the users will have access to standard EWM processes, from Physical Inventory to Outbound processing.

 SAP EWM Deployment Options

• Along with the choice of different licensing options, is the decision of how to deploy SAP EWM.
• There are multiple options to meet every business’ needs, from large 24/7 365-day operations to small 9-5 business operations.For larger businesses with a high volume of transactions, they will want to investigate a few options for EWM deployment; Business Suite Decentral EWM 9.5, EWM Embedded in S/4HANA or the soon to be available Stand Alone EWM on S/4HANA, of which MSCG is currently involved in partner testing.

 The future with SAP S/4HANA

• Due to its clear focus on SAP S/4HANA, in the future inconso will rely on the decentral SAP TM connected to SAP S/4HANA and the new embedded SAP TM within SAP S/4HANA. Interfaces and functions are the same as those of the decentral SAP EWM.
• They differ in the integration of warehouse processes into ERP processes.
• Companies that already use the decentral SAP EWM can switch from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA in their SAP EWM application without it adversely affecting their logistics processes. The interface in SAP EWM remains unchanged.

Material Flow System with SAP EWM MFS

• Modern distribution centers with automatic storage and conveyor technology systems require a high investment volume. To ensure maximal return on investment, the performance of the technical equipment needs to be utilized to its full capacity.

 SAP WM

Warehouse management is an extension of IM and an integral part of ECC. Many limitations observed in IM regarding the micro level stock management, space optimization, strategy for movement etc can be overcome by using the Warehouse management. WM has the functionalities of storage, shipping of goods and internal warehouse tasks.

Some of the key features of WM are as below

Storage Bin Management

• You map your entire storage facilities in the Warehouse Management In doing so, you can set up various storage facilities such as automatic warehouse, high rack storage areas, bulk storage or fixed storage bins in various storage types, according to your needs.
• You manage material stocks at storage bin level. You can define these storage bins according to your own requirements. Every storage bin in your warehouse is mapped in the system.
• This lets you monitor all warehouse movements at all times. You can follow where a certain material is in your warehouse.
• SAP Inventory Managementand the SAP Warehouse Management system are fully integrated.
• With its inventory procedure and recording of stock differences, the system ensures that the inventory balance in Inventory Managementalways corresponds to the warehouse stock in the WMS.

Goods Movements

• You process all goods movements that affect your warehouse via the WMS.
• This includes goods receipts, goods issues, stock transfers, material staging for production, automatic replenishment, managing hazardous materials, and processing stock differences in your warehouse.
• The WMS optimizes warehouse capacities and material flows using putaway and stock removal strategies, which you can adjust to suit your individual needs, or by using storage units.

Planning and Monitoring

Radio Frequency Connection

• Radio frequency connection (RF connection) to mobile date entryachieves quick and flawless data transfer.
• The RF machines receive data directly from the SAP system and transfer data back to the system. Using barcodes, you can record information to be recorded and verify it.

Decentralized WMS

You can run the WMS as a standalone decentralized warehouse management system, independent of a central enterprise resource planning system (ERP system).

Warehouse Control

WMS also has an interface to external systems (warehouse control units), so that you can integrate automatic putaway, stock removal systems or fork lift control systems into the warehouse management system for all warehouse movements with the help of this ALE interface.
