1. Click Start > All Programs > HP Software > HP LoadRunner > Virtual User Generator or double-click the Virtual User Generator shortcut icon on the desktop. The main HP Virtual User Generator window opens.

  • Record a script.
  • Replay script.
  • Identify the values to be correlated.
  • Select the values and click the auto-correlate button.
  • Verify the script by running again. A successful run means successful correlation.

While JMeter does support scripting in elements, you are not required to. This means you can run a complete load test without knowing a bit of code. This expands the number of users who can use JMeter or analyze the test results.LoadRunner, on the other hand, requires scripting knowledge.

1. Load Runner HP LoadRunner is an software testing tool from Hewlett-Packard. It is used to test applications, measuring system behaviour and performance under load. HP acquired LoadRunner as part of its acquisition of Mercury Interactive in November 2006.

2. Selenium Mainly used for testing websites that run on browsers

You must know at least the basics of how to use a computer, and should be able to start a command line shell. If you are new to programming then Introduction to Programming is strongly recommended.

Most people would have started learning Performance testing using LoadRunner.Having said that LoadRunner has it own advantages in terms of the number of protocols it can support and it is the pioneer in the performance testing industry

The “Simulate browser cache” option tells LoadRunner to “pretend” that it has a cache stored in the current session, and to keep track of the resources it has already downloaded.

Selenium is used to perform Automated Functional Testing whereas Load Runner is a Non Functional testing tool.

As a manual tester you would have done Functional testing and would have good knowledge in that. In order to use your previous experience , I would suggest you to learn Selenium.

Not only this, Selenium is in high demand. You would have better job prospects in future. In terms of number of jobs, there is always higher demand for Functional Testers.

What is the difference between UFT and Loadrunner?

LoadRunner is also testing tool from the same company, but with a different purpose. Loadrunner was developed to simulate and test the user interactions like mouse clicks and keyboard presses. LoadRunner, on the other hand, simulates a heavy load or multiple concurrent users to stress the system.


Advantages And Features Of LoadRunner

LoadRunner is automated performance testing product from Mercury Interactive, later acquired by HP (Hewlett-Packard). This is only certified testing tool to work on CRM and ERP applications. Currently, LoadRunner occupies 70% of market share when compared to other testing tools.

LoadRunner can be used for stress test your software application or environment to identify the performance and behavior. The main objective of LoadRunner is to validate a software application under heavy load. This application able to generate real-time scenario where multiple users login from several end through specialized application named Virtual User Generator. The results can be used to enhance overall design and improvement of the software application.

 No need to install it on the server under test. It uses native monitors. For Ex: perfmon for windows or rstatd daemon for Unix

  • LoadRunner reduces the amount of hardware required for testing because numerous Vusers can run on a single computer. That is called Load Generator.
  • Microfocus LoadRunner Controller is a single point of control over all the Vusers and also allows you to easily and effectively create test scenario according to your need.
  • LoadRunner monitors the application performance online and enabling you to fine-tune your system as per given SLA.
  • LoadRunner automatically records the performance of the application during a test. You can choose from a wide variety of graphs and reports to view the performance data.
