Future Scope Of SAP PS (Project Systems )
Purpose
Both large scale projects, such as building a factory, and small-scale projects, such as organizing a trade fair, require precise planning of the many detailed activities involved. The project manager has the job of ensuring that the project is executed efficiently, on time, and within budget - which he or she achieves by ensuring that the required resources and funds are available as and when needed.
Projects are generally part of the internal processes of a company. To be able to control all tasks in project execution, you need an organizational form that is specific to the project and which is shared by all departments involved. Before you can carry out a project in its entirety, the project goals must be precisely described and the project activities to be carried out must be structured. A clear, unambiguous project structure is the basis for successful project planning, monitoring, and control.
Integration
The high degree of integration between the Project System (PS) and other application components means that you can plan, execute, and account for projects as part of your normal commercial procedures. This means the Project System has constant access to data in all the departments involved in the project.
Benefits Of using SAP Project System

Scope and Opportunity of a Career in SAP Project System (PS)
- PS is the most under represented module in today's market from the personnel
There are two reasons for this.
- One is that it is one of the most difficult modules (ranking equal with FICO).
- Second is that in the past, PS consultants took a black eye for being under educated. Now companies strongly control who gets jobs in PS.
- The easiest way to destroy an implementation is to louse up the PS configuration. So they are really determined to only take the best. So if you are a fully functional PS
consultant, your future is second to none.
- However, many companies have their PS configuration created at inseption and never touch them again.
- So there becomes less work than one would expect. But if you work hard and have the talent, they'll seek you out world wide!

Ways of using SAP PS
PS can be used to manage projects of many types. The Business Blueprint will, of course, be the basis upon which you decide how PS will be utilised but these are the most likely scenarios:
Asset Project
Building an Asset using PS involves the use of IM (Investment Management). PS actually creates an AUC at the point a project is released – it is the Investment Profile inside the Budget Profile and the Program Position inside the WBS (called the Measure) that tells PS this is an Investment Project. Settlement Rules for a project like this are automatically created during the first Settlement run.
Customer Project
SAP PS can be used to manage the sale of anything. If you are building something that you will ultimately be selling to a Client after you have built it, you can do it in one of two ways
- Customer Project with Assembly Processing
You can create a quotation which leads to a Sales Order containing Configurable Material as Line Items. This will automatically generate a Project and in turn automatically trigger the creation of Material Reservations or Purchase Requisitions and Purchase Orders (either from Stock or from a third party). In conjunction with this, you can trigger a request for Manufacture of your Configurable items.
- Customer Project with Direct Sales
You can create a Project, perform Easy Cost Planning against WBS’s and make PS automatically Execute the procurement/reservation of various items that make up the sale, then create a Sales Document (Quotation or Sales Order). This is achieved using DIP Profiles (Dynamic Item Processor).
