Yes, it is very good career option. As companies pays Database administrator(DBA) a lot. ... There is a huge scope in DBA. No matter for which company will you work, but you'll earn a lot.
- Design and enhance data models for an object-oriented application platform. Manage backup and recovery routines. Build and deploy databases for new customers. Maintain and tune up existing customer databases.
- Oracle DBA will definitely be in action as long as the databases are there. But we need to keep improving our self and updated with the latest technologies. For example as of now, traditional DBA work is minimal as the databases itself has convenient monitoring and alert systems (Oracle Enterprise Manager). All THE work which DBA used to do manually are now automated with this solution.
DBA has to maintain security, the privacy of data so it is a good choice to start your career in Database Administration and one should prepare for Oracle DBA certification . As Increasing Demand for Oracle DBAs.

The cell also contributes by training students in mock interviews and discussions even after the course completion.
- The Production DBA is primarily responsible for performing production support activities for data warehouse and transactional servers. Responsibilities include: Performance and tuning. Monitoring. Database maintenance.
- A DBA is a Database Administrator, and this is the most common job that you find a database specialist doing. There are Development DBAs and Production DBAs. A Development DBA usually works closely with a team of developers and gets more involved in design decisions, giving advice on performance and writing good SQL.
Before you start proceeding with this tutorial, it is recommended that you have a good understanding of basic computer concepts such as primary memory, secondary memory, and data structures and algorithms.
Fundamentally, what one needs to learn anything is passion. If you have the desire and the passion to become an Oracle DBA, you will succeed. This is also a very good time to get into this area, because the expert Oracle DBA population is ageing, some of them have moved on to doing other things yet the technology and deployments are still thriving.
Our course ware is designed to give a hands-on approach to the students in Oracle Apps DBA. The course is made up of theoretical classes that teach the basics of each module followed by high-intensity practical sessions reflecting the current challenges and needs of the industry that will demand the students’ time and commitment.
The definition of worth is very subjective. The fact is, Oracle does have the most complete feature set available from any RDBMS software available out there. But, does all of those features really needed? Mostly everyone would say they need all of those features. It is however, when for each feature comes with financial cost that should be paid then the story would be different.
The most complete feature set of oracle comes in enterprise edition of which is very pricy than most database available today, extra feature such as performance monitoring and tune up, grid, comes with another extra cost of which are separated from the package itself. If those features are badly needed and the organization does have budget and willing to pay to cover the cost for those features, then yes oracle is very worthy investment.
Since we are not a DBA, we can't comment on that stream, but for development, there are two things you need to learn. SQL, and PL/SQL. Both of these will take two months each if you are spending 2–3 hours everyday. In olden days, there use to be a Complete Reference series of books of TMH publication. You can get the same for SQL & PL/SQL. This should give you enough insight of Oracle as a developer.
If you want to become expert in world's most commonly used ETL tool, you have come to right place. With this tutorial you will know everything you need to know and able to work as Oracle Apps DBA Developer.
Oracle DBA will definitely be in action as long as the databases are there. But we need to keep improving our self and updated with the latest technologies. For example as of now, traditional DBA work is minimal as the databases itself has convenient monitoring and alert systems (Oracle Enterprise Manager).
Oracle Apps DBA is building automation into our devices to drive efficiency with the goal that associations can scale up to the developments in information and the development of information clients and utilize cases.
Advtages and Future Scope of Oracle DBA
A career in Oracle database administrator normally involved in managing and require customization of the relational database system provided by Oracle, and also ensuring optimum performance of the database anytime for user experience.
Oracle has provided training and certification with varieties experience and designation, certificates are below:
- Oracle Certified Junior Associate (OCJA): This is one of the certifications for a very junior level where the candidate can come from schools, college or any institute where they have started their study recently. It also entertains for the teacher or faculty stuff who is just involving on given teaching in computer science or java oracle.
- Oracle Certificated Associate (OCA): This is one the first step for achieving professional certification from the oracle. It is given a basic understanding of Oracle fundamentals.
- Oracle Certified Professional (OCP): This certification is for those professionals who are really advance in Oracle database system.
- Oracle Certified Master (OCM): This certification has given information on the highest level of knowledge.
Except those oracle also provided some other advance certificates like Oracle Certified Specialist (OCS) or Oracle Certified Expert (OCE).

As per hype in the current market, the administrative job in the database specifically in Oracle are already increased 11%, which is very higher than other available jobs.
Getting a job directly in Oracle, certification is one of the mandatory parts which candidate cannot be avoided. In Oracle, those people can involve resolving all kind of challenging service request and as well as some new implementation in the software.
- Job in other IT companies:
It is also very much attractive. Here mainly need to give support on available set up on that specific organization, ensuring performance and deployment activity.
Salary
- One Oracle database administrator can get any kind of salary without any specific degree in hand. Candidate with proper oracle certificate has no binding on getting high package salary.
- Salary normally varies in between $90000 and $180000, based on varieties certificate provided by the oracle.
- Oracle certification for professional, master or specialist will be designed for different kind of salaries for their upcoming status. But still, a candidate should need to more concern about varieties update and make them certified in advance training. Based on that salary will be very attractive.

Career on the same always is a very key role for any candidate who is really expert in Oracle database management system. Also looking for some challenging role and job satisfaction them it will be a good career to choose.
Advantages and Future Scope of Oracle DBA
The following are the advantages of choosing Oracle Database.
Portability
- Oracle is ported to more platforms than any of its competition, running on more than 100 hardware platforms and 20 networking protocols.
- This makes writing an Oracle application fairly safe from changes of direction in hardware and operating system, and therefore a safe bet.
- One caveat, however, is that applications using some constructs (such as field level triggers) may have to be reworked when porting them to a block mode environment. You can also develop a fairly fully featured application with little knowledge of the underlying OS.
Market Presence
- Oracle is by far the largest RDBMS Vendor, and spends more on R&D than most of its competitors earn in total revenue.
- Oracle has the largest independent RDBMS market share in VMS, UNIX and OS/2 Server fields.
- This market clout means that you are unlikely to be left in the lurch by Oracle and there are always lots of third party interfaces supported and also, proficient staff are relatively easy to get.
Version Changes
- Oracle seem very good at informing you in detail as to what is not going to be supported in the next major release and usually have some knob you can twiddle for good backward compatibility, or simply leave it working, but with "don't use this, use xxxx instead" warnings in the manual.
- Backward compatibility is very good meaning you will not be in for an application re-write when you upgrade the DBMS. [Compare this with the Ingres v5->6 OSQL upgrade from hell.] I've worked with Oracle since V4 Beta and have never been in for nasty surprises as far as syntax goes.
Backup and Recovery
- Oracle provides industrial strength support for on-line backup and recovery and good software fault tolerance to disk failure.
- You can also do point-in-time recovery.
- Of course, you need the archive mechanisms and storage space to do this, but Oracle supports continuous archiving to tape devices spanning multiple volumes.
Performance
Speed of a *tuned* Oracle database and application is quite good, even with large databases. Oracle refer to >100 GB databases and have personal experience administering 10 GB databases. The performance is not only "raw", but includes consideration of performance with locking and transaction control.
Cursor Support
Oracle, like Ingres, but unlike Sybase (until Release 10 I think),supports cursors which ease programming when performance is needed. A cursor basically lets you do row-by-row processing. Oracle supports multiple cursors per Oracle connection in line with ANSI standards.
SQL Dialect
- The dialect of SQL offered by Oracle is in my opinion superior to the others in the extensions it offers over ANSI-2, which is very much a lowest common denominator.
- Constructs such as the absolute function and decode keyword are very powerful Oracle additions to the standard SQL.
Multiple Database Support
- Oracle has a superior ability to manage multiple databases within the same transaction using a two-phase commit protocol. This is best implemented in V7.
- You can fairly easily move where data is actually stored from node to node in a network and have data mirroring, making it easy to optimise the location of the data from time to time.
- This is not so easily done with offerings from other vendors or earlier versions of Oracle, where you were not able to update more than one database in the one transaction with any reliability.
- This meant that you could not move data around without recoding your programs. With V7, your DBA can optimise the location without pre-planning by programmers or re-examination of the code prior to the move.
PL/SQL
PL/SQL, the procedural extensions, is a draft ANSI standard for procedural DBMS languages. See main discussion on PL/SQL.
Declarative Integrity
- Oracle V7 onwards supports declarative database integrity (the current ANSI standard) and V6 permits you to enter the declarations.
- With V6, you can get the toolset (such as SQL*Forms 3) to read the declarations and automatically generate the required code.
- With V7 onwards, not even this is required, as the database engine automatically enforces the integrity.
- This means that you can open up your database to end-users through simple third party interfaces as they simply cannot break your business rules even if they try. It makes it easy to administer changes in business and data rules as there is only one spot where the change needs to be made. This lowers the cost of required modification to the system because you do not have to edit all applications code that works with the table.
- It is reasonable to expect Oracle to release the first SQL-93 implementation at near-full compliance.
